Hey everyone! Dana here, to relay that we have all safely made it to El Faro Camp in Guatemala. Our flights weren't too bad, but we did almost miss our connecting flight from Newark to Honduras and had to run, catching it with seconds to spare. It was pretty much like a Tom Cruise movie where he only had seconds to detonate a bomb before it destroyed the world, except instead of saving the world we were just catching our next flight. Maybe i'm being a little melodramatic, but I was assigned to blog about our flight and had to make  it interesting somehow! We did get to fly first class though which was pretty awesome because we got delicious food and those little hot towels that everyone loves. It's been pretty exciting so far and I can't wait to see what other adventures await us!
This is Sam here, to tell more about our first day here! First of all, it is kind of a culture shock! Or at least it is for me because I have never been out of America! The first thing I think everyone noticed was the crazy down here. It's not your typical road rage it's much crazier and cars just make there own lanes to drive in and people are sitting in the bed of trucks and it is just very interesting to see (also pretty scary). We also got a flat tire on the bus but luckily we were able to find the right equipment and fix the bus and in the meantime we got to play soccer with some kids that were hanging out there. When we finally got to the camp (after being stopped by the Guatemalan coast guard) I think we were all super excited to see that it is basically a resort here! I feel bad for you guys back there in Indiana because it is beautiful here and even the water feels like bath water :) We also had a really good dinner of chicken, mashed potatoes (delicious) and a mixture of avocado, cilantro and cucumber with watermelon for desert! I'm pretty excited for the days coming up!
